I'm Susie. In the Light World, I'm sitting by a body of water. Suddenly, I see a crustacean at the water’s bottom. A lobster. I pick it up and look at it.
"Woah! You have eggs. You're a mom then."
The female lobster wriggles.
"Hey, hey, calm down. I'm going to put you back in the water."
I put her back in the water and felt my middle finger being pinched. I see that another lobster, blue in color, has grabbed my finger. He must be the mom lobster’s mate. Not only does it hurt like hell, but my finger is bleeding. The blue lobster refuses to let go of my finger. Even if I threaten him with my bright yellow eyes.
I sigh. I've got no choice. It's going to hurt like hell, but it's the only way. I reach for the exacto in my pocket. It would be easier in the Dark World with my axe, but oh well. I grit my teeth and start cutting my finger. The blood flows freely.
Now you're going to ask me: "But Susie it's impossible to cut off a finger with an exacto blade!" I have only one answer for you: "It's fucking Deltarune, Real Life logic doesn't apply here."
Anyway, I keep cutting my finger. It takes a long time and hurts indescribably. I hold myself back from screaming and my eyes shed copious tears. When I've finally finished, I pull my bloody hand and the hand holding the exacto out of the water. The blue lobster slowly eats my finger and the mom lobster tries to steal bits from him.
I gag but I don't vomit. I have to stay focused. That's the hardest part. I throw the red-bladed exacto away. It's no use to me anymore. I hold my bleeding hand with my intact hand. I concentrate despite the pain and my tears.
Monsters’ Regeneration. The ability to regrow a lost limb. Anyone can do it. I mean, I haven't seen anyone else do it, but I know it's possible. After all, it's not the first time I've used Regeneration.
When I was little, I cut my hand off at the wrist for some stupid reason. Probably to scare my classmates on Halloween. Everyone was panicking, and I made my hand grow back without anyone noticing. I said it was a fake hand and that was the story end.
Now it's my second Regeneration. Just for a finger and it's as painful as growing a hand. I see my wound stop bleeding, a layer of skin covers the hole left by my missing finger, and then my finger forms and grows slowly, very slowly, to its former size.
I look down at my bloody hand. My finger is back, intact and with the skin of a newborn. Its skin tone is paler than the rest of my hand and body, but it will darken with time.
I wipe away my tears and breathe a sigh of relief. Despite the constant pain, I've done it. I look again at the two lobsters. They've finished eating my finger and seem to be looking at me, as if to say, "Susie, another finger please". I give them a dark, angry look with my bright yellow eyes and head for home.
